Born in 1979, in the city of Porto, Portugal, Manuela Pimentel studied Fine Arts at the Escola Superior do Porto (ESAP), specializing in Lithography and Multimedia Art. During this period, she specialized in Traditional Japanese Woodcut, guided by Professor Hiroshi Maruyama (Tokyo) in 2003 and engraving. Her work has developed in different areas and artistic practices such as painting, drawing, scenography and video. She exhibits regularly since 2001, presenting her works in collective and individual exhibitions in Portugal and abroad, being represented in different public and private collections. Manuela Pimentel develops projects in co-authorship with other artists, highlighting the interventions in Scenography for Theater, Cinema and Poetry, namely in Quintas de Leitura (Teatro Campo Alegre), in Porto. Since 2008, she is a member of the collective Grupo Afrontamento. Currently lives and works in Leça da Palmeira.
Manuela´s works are part of important public collections of contemporary art, such as Fundação Luso-Americana, Museu Municipal de Resende, Museu do Vinho do Porto, Hospital Público Senhora da Oliveira (Guimarães), A2 – Asdrubal J. A. SA (S. Tomé de Negrelos), Ginoclin (Guimarães) e Câmara Municipal da Maia.
