Born in Lisbon in 1975, where he lives and works, Jorge Leal graduated in Architecture at the University of Coimbra. Between 2002 and 2004, he conducted painting and drawing studies at Ar.Co. (Lisbon). In 2017, he completed his PhD in Design at the Faculty of Bellas-Artes of the University of Lisbon. Exhibits regularly since 2005 in public institutions and private spaces. Since 2012, his work has focused on practical and theoretical research on drawing. The use of the graphic diary is central to his artistic practice, as evidenced by the more than 170 notebooks that regularly integrate the exhibitions in which he participates.
He is represented in the MAAT collection, Fernando Figueiredo Ribeiro and private collections (Portugal, Spain, France, Belgium, England, Germany).
